Cub Scout and 8 Year Old Travis

Travis became a cub scout upon turning 8 recently.  His first activity was a walk-a-thon to raise money for cub scout day camp.  He did 7 laps around his school when each lap was 0.7 miles.  Angela walked it with him.

Here he is going to his first pack meeting.

For his birthday party he wanted a brownie cake with ice cream.  We put a lego jeep on the "cake" as well since he doesn't like frosting.  There being only 6 candles is a different story, but at least we had the "8" candle.

We had a rocket themed party on a very windy day.  The kids decorated some 2-Liter bottles and Brian had them take turns pulling the string on our water bottle launcher.  You can see the kids in the background in the tennis courts waiting for the rockets to be launched and land in the courts.

This photo was taken just after Lucas had launched a rocket.  If you look closely at the photo you can see the stream of water just above the launch pad.

We also launched water balloons with a launcher that Brian built.  This was a hit for the kids too.

Here's his haul of presents.  He got a lot of lego stuff that's for sure.

His brothers gave him a snorkeling set as their gift.  He got it out one night and explored the bathtub.

This is what Brian saw when he came into the bathroom, not exactly a fun sight to see if you don't notice the snorkel at first (a bit scary seeing your kid face down).  He's pretty good at it.
