Tough Hike For a Geocache

On Brian's Friday off, Angela canned apple sauce with a friend's saucer and some free apples she was given (it tastes really good). Brian decided to take the boys to find one of the closest geocaches to our house. The problem with the remaining geocaches here in town that we haven't found yet is that the are all tough hikes. This one was about a half mile from our house as the crow flies. We drove 0.2 miles of that and parked. There was a trail that took us within 500 feet of the cache and it was quite flat up until that point. Then came the climb and the trail blazing. This is an area that was burned in the major fire back in 2000 so there were many fallen trees to climb over and there were lots of prickly cacti and plants to navigate around. Brian carried Lucas, though Lucas wanted to hike on his own, and Travis hiked the whole way on his own. We took a photo near the cache site. On the way down, Brian lost his balance and put his hand into a cactus and had to pull five 1 inch long needles out of his hand. Lucas got some scrapes too but we're all doing fine now. These two boys are getting to be quite the experienced hikers.
